Ms Calvert examined the psychological effects of Christians鈥� experience of their relationship with God. She found that the experience of a close and secure relationship predicted improved wellbeing while fears of abandonment and rejection by God predicted reduced wellbeing over time. Ms Calvert鈥檚 findings highlight the implications of a relationship with God for mental health 鈥� as a potential source of both struggle and strength 鈥� and suggest the importance of attending to this issue in therapy with Christian clients.
